BA and EdX Sign Educational Agreement

11/03/2015 | Cambridge, Massachusetts

Serageldin signed an educational agreement with edX, whereby the Library of Alexandria and edX have become partners to bring an educational platform within reach of young people in remote areas of Egypt, to empower women and fight extremist ideology.

“EdX is an opportunity to implement the vision of  the library of Alexandria as a place of learning, a place of dialogue, a place of openness  … Edx is the platform that will enable us to reach remote areas in Egypt  where children and young people are deprived of access to books and study halls  but where,  through the magic of modern technology, we can actually bring the best teachers, the best material all the way to them, actually link them into a network of learners, a community of scholars that transcend the boundaries of Egypt,” said Serageldin.

EdX offers interactive online classes and  massive open online course (MOOCs)  from the world’s best universities, colleges and organizations. It is a non-profit online initiative created by founding partners Harvard and MIT.
