Embracing the Challenge, Inventing the Future

The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA)’s  Section on Education and Training (SET) 40th Anniversary Summit opened with Serageldin’s keynote speech entitled  “Building Tomorrow’s Library Today: The New Library of Alexandria”, where he spoke about the challenges met and the challenges of tomorrow. His speech tackled the theme of the Summit: “Library and Information Education and Training: Confluence of Past and Present Toward a Strong Future”. The Summit addressed the history and future of SET through a collaborative forum for critical discussion.  The event included keynote presentations, panel discussions and Ignite sessions.

 

Founded in Scotland in 1927, IFLA is the leading international body representing the interests of library and information services and their users.  SET supports and enhances library and information science (LIS) education and training based on research and professional practice on an international scale.
