This week Serageldin joins distinguished scholars, representatives of national academies of science and medicine, experts and science advisors, at the Inter Academy Panel: The Global Network of Science Academies (IAP) Conference and General Assembly, hosted by the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf), which takes place from 28 February to 2 March 2016 in Hermanus, South Africa, under the theme "Science Advice". The conference brings scholars from South Africa and abroad together for discussions on science advice as an ecosystem, in times of emergency or disaster, and in the international arena.
IAP is a global network consisting of over 106 national science academies. Founded in 1993, its primary goal is to help member academies work together to advise the public on the scientific aspects of critical global issues.
